Classroom Directory
Once again, the Brookview PTO has created a form to facilitate the creation of individual classroom directories! This will be the only means by which Classroom Coordinators will communicate information for classroom parties (Fall, Harvest, Give Love) as well as Staff Appreciation events throughout the year. It can also be used to contact other families for birthdays, playdates, and other activities for your child(ren).
Teachers do not share contact information for students, so the hope is this will be a way to share classmate contact information.
Once collected, this information will be shared ONLY with the parents/guardians in your child's classroom who chose to participate in this Classroom Directory. That means if you choose not to sign up for the Classroom Directory, you will not receive contact information for the other families in your child’s class.
The PTO may also use the information to occasionally send out information that is of interest to the entire student body. BCC email format will always be used.

Please submit one form PER CHILD, not per family: https://forms.gle/WMs6ayZory7MKwd1A
Classroom Party Information
The cooler weather this week has us thinking about . . . fall parties! One or more (optional) items to check off your list of things to do:
1. Donate to the Brookview PTO Classroom Party Fund on Revtrak. We are recommending $5 per student, which we hope will allow us to ask for fewer party supplies from parents this year.
2. Sign up to be a member of your child's Grade-level Classroom Coordinator team using this form.

Parent Drop Off and Pick Up, and Parking Before and After School
From Mrs. Angelino:
Good Morning,
It was great to see so many of you last night at Open House! We hope you are enjoying the final days of summer and soaking in time with family and friends. In preparation for our first day of school tomorrow, below are some updates, reminders, and changes regarding arrival and dismissal.
As a reminder, the first official day of school for all students is Friday, August 23. Students in 1st grade through 5th grade will attend a full day of school beginning on this day from 8:50 am - 3:40 pm. Arrival begins at 8:35 am.
The Kindergarten school day will be shortened for the first three days of school (Friday, August 23, Monday, August 26, and Tuesday, August 27). Kindergarten students will attend school from 9:50 am - 1:40 pm on these three days.
Parent Drop Off:
- NEW THIS YEAR: We will only have one lane for parent drop off this year to assist with the flow of traffic and allow us to pull more cars forward. You will enter the parking lot and stay on the right side that will wrap around the perimeter of the parking lot. We will no longer have the lane open that cuts north across the parking lot -- this will be coned off. If you are parking, we ask that you follow the entrance line and make a left into the second parking row.
- Parents pulling along the curb must remain in their vehicles. Staff will be available to help open car doors and assist students. Cars will be directed to pull forward and drop off students toward the front of the line. The line will continue to move forward as cars exit the lane.
- If you choose to park, you must park in a designated parking space and walk to the sidewalk to accompany your child to the vehicle. No children will be allowed to walk by themselves across the crosswalk. This procedure is in place to keep students safe.
- If you choose to walk your child into the bldg., turn left and park in the main parking lot with the flagpole, walk your child to the front of the building, give them a hug and say goodbye.
- Late arrivals (after 8:50 am) - walk your child into the office for check-in and a tardy pass.
Parent Pick Up:
- NEW THIS YEAR: We will only have one lane for parent pick up this year to assist with the flow of traffic and allow us to pull more cars forward.
Cars will be directed to pull forward and pick up students toward the front of the line. The line will continue to move forward as cars exit the lane. Please do not form a double lane to pick up children.
- If you choose to park, you must park in a designated parking space and walk to the sidewalk to accompany your child to the vehicle. No children will be allowed to walk by themselves across the crosswalk. This procedure is in place to keep students safe.

Get to Know the PTO: Helping Hands Co-Chair
Courtney is an awesome Co-Chair (and founding member) of our Helping Hands service club!
FUN FACT: Courtney and her kids actually brought the idea for Helping Hands from their previous school in Minnesota! This is just one example of a Brookview parent and student having an idea and seeing it through for the betterment of our school community. What ideas do you have for Brookview?
A bit about Courtney . . .

Get to Know the PTO: Fundraising Chair
Julie is our outstanding Fundraising Chair, responsible for putting on the annual Bolt for Brookview event! She and her team work tirelessly to put on this obstacle fun run fundraiser each year, with jaw dropping results. Our PTO wouldn't be able to function at the level it does without the amazing donations brought in by this event. The next time you see Julie, please thank her for everything she has done and continues to do for Brookview!!
Fun facts about Julie . .
I have a 5th-grader and kindergartener.
When my kid(s) started at Brookview, I wish I knew . . . how many opportunities they would have to develop, build self-confidence and become leaders in their community. To see their progress year over year is just amazing!! All of our teachers and staff at Brookview are top notch and truly care about students learning/experiences/leadership but also their well being.
One thing I wish people knew about PTO at Brookview is that . . . our PTO is not the stigma PTO’s normally have—we have fun, share / learn ideas from others, laugh and learn more about the education of our children.
The best things about volunteering at Brookview are . . . the wonderful parents I work with quickly became close friends, as well as the excitement and pure joy on the kids faces and helping to bring money into the school for technology, guided reading, diversity experiences and so very much more.
My first or favorite memory of my own elementary school experience is . . . the Letter People.
I never have time to . . . read.
I have an irrational fear of . . . snakes.
My day is better when . . . I am spending quality time with my girls—cooking, jumping on the trampoline, playing outside or working on projects together. Their smiles, giggles, hugs and snuggles bring me so much love and happiness.
People would be surprised to know that I can . . . fix a lot of things around the house on my own. My Dad owned a hardware store when I was growing up so I was taught to tackle every problem and never give up until it is fixed (even if that requires asking a question, but now in the glorified days of technology there is a You Tube video for everything!).
If money weren’t an issue, the hobby I would take up would be . . . Party Planning / Catering.
One more thing I want to do as a family before summer break ends is . . . Go on a Disney Cruise to the Bahamas!!
**We are still looking for someone to join the fundraising team as Brookview's Restaurant Night Coordinator! Please email us at brookviewpto@gmail.com with any questions! It's an easy job that benefits our whole school!**

I consider my hometown to be . . . San Diego, California.
The most interesting place I have visited is . . . Death Valley National Park.
My day is better when . . . I start it with a workout.
I look up to . . . Positive people who live with intention.
